             abstract = "This study aimed to use multitemporal images obtained by the 
                         sensed TM/Landsat in the period 1997 to 2009, aimed at monitoring 
                         and quantification of the dynamics of use and occupation of land 
                         in the sub-basin of the river Jauru, State of Mato Grosso. The 
                         sub-basin is located in the coordinates latitude 14º20'39{"}S and 
                         16º36'23{"}S and longitude 57º37'13{"}W and 59º35'49{"}W. The 
                         approach used consisted of comparative analysis of the human 
                         action of man in the sub-basin and the area that comprises the 
                         so-called {"}wetland. We used images obtained by the sensor 
                         TM/Landsat-5 for the years 1997 and 2009, the images were 
                         geometrically corrected with the aid of the letters of DSG / IBGE 
                         1:100.000 scale were subsequently processed using routines 
                         implemented in SPRING software v. 5.1. The results were endorsed 
                         by using the kappa coefficient, was considered very good (K= 0.79 
                         or 79%) for unsupervised classification using the classifier 
                         Isoseg to 95%. In the mapping to the classes referred to as 
                         anthropogenic and vegetation, the results were excellent, 
                         respectively, K = 0.92 or 92% and K = 0.98 or 98%. The values were 
                         tabulated and compared with the percentage of deforestation 
                         occurred during the study period, noting that across the sub-basin 
                         were disturbed an area of 1105.3492 km2 equivalent to 9.13% of the 
                         entire sub-basin. The values of the disturbed areas were 
                         considered high taking into consideration the short space of time, 
                         and by the various conservation programs available.",
